Mittlerweile ist es in den größeren Medien Berlins auch angekommen. Dank der exzellenten und hartnäckigen Arbeit der Berliner Freien Wähler und ihres dortigen Spitzenkandidaten sowie einiger ausgewählter alternativer und regionaler Medien berichtet die FAZ nun unter dem Titel „Muss die Wahl in Berlin wiederholt werden?“
Das bisherige Schweigen auch des öffentlich rechtlichen Rundfunks ist angesichts der Größenordnung des Skandals nicht verständlich. Nun ist aber der Skandal und seine potentiellen Auswirkungen einfach zu groß, zu tiefgreifend sind die potentiellen Konsequenzen.
Und natürlich gibt es Widerstand. Massiven Widerstand. U.a. aus der Senatsverwaltung und dem Senat selber, die zumindestens in deren Teil, der ein Parteibuch „Die Linke“ hat, ein gewichtiges Interesse hat, eine Wahlwiederholung zu vermeiden. Zu den am stärksten betroffenen Bezirken gehört auch der Wahlbezirk von Gesine Lötsch. Sollte sie im allgemeinen Bundestrend das Direktmandat in einer Wiederholungswahl verlieren, fällt die Linke aus dem Bundestag und damit müssten nicht nur die Wahlkreisdirekt- oder Listenkandidaten zittern, sondern auch Ausgleichs- und Überhangmandate wären betroffen.
Bundeswahlleiter Georg Thiel konstatierte in der Bundestagsanhörung zu den Berliner Verhältnissen, dass es ein „systematisches Versagen der Wahlorganisation“ gegeben habe. Die amtierende Landeswahlleiterin Berlins sieht sich außerstande, alle Unregelmäßigkeiten aufzudecken.
Man sollte meinen, die Wahlbeteiligung bei der Landtagswahl von nur 56% in NRW sei Warnschuss genug. Dann erinnern wir uns, dass die versprochene Landtagswahl in Thüringen zweimal „aus Gründen“ bis zum Sankt Nimmerleinstag verschoben wurden, obwohl die dortige Regierung nicht demokratisch legitimiert ist. Und jetzt Berlin… Ob es Zufall ist, dass in beiden Ländern die Linke mit in oder an der Regierung ist. Der eine oder andere Bürger fühlt sich an die DDR erinnert und die eine oder andere kritische Stimme erinnert daran, dass der damals zuständige Innensenator Geisel vor seiner SPD Mitgliedschaft in der SED war.
Freie, geheime und gleiche Wahlen sind das Fundament der Demokratie. Wenn jetzt Parlamentarier oder auch Verfassungsrichter das Vertrauen in die ordnungsgemäße Durchführung der Wahl der angeblichen Mandatsrelevanz (die vor dem Hintergrund der zahlreichen „Fehler“ gar nicht beurteilt werden kann) opfern, dann ist ist die Demokratie ernsthaft und mit nicht absehbaren Folgen beschädigt.
Die Titelzeile der FA ist falsch gewählt. Die Wahlen müssen zwingend wiederholt werden.
Für alle, die meinen, dass eine Stimme für die Freien Wähler verschenkt sei. Dass diese Vorgänge tatsächlich in eine so breite Öffentlichkeit gelangt sind, ist ein Verdienst der Freien Wähler, insbesondere dort dem dortigen Spitzenkandidaten Marcel Luthe.
